As a Frontend Consultant, you will spend most of your time working as part of an agile delivery team (most likely at a client's office) on an exciting project helping that client to realise the business benefit of an investment into the cloud. About the role and what you'll be doing

You will spend most of your time working as part of an agile delivery team (most likely at a client’s office) on an exciting project helping that client to realise the business benefit of an investment into the cloud. Our projects vary a huge amount from client to client, so you’ll never get bored.

You can expect to be playing a technical role. You will find yourself immersed in a cross-functional team composed of Amido Business Analysts, QA Engineers and Developers helping your client define the most suitable frontend solution as well as using your development skills to deliver quality code. We work with many different clients using many different technology choices, though we favour ReactJS, Styled Components, Webpack and Typescript/ES6.

You will be working across the full project lifecycle – from developing proof of concept to delivering the final project – and will provide advice to the team and your client about the best approach to frontend development. You might also be involved in presenting technical topics to your team, or coaching more junior members of staff, depending on project needs.

Amido has a rich and varied set of communities (on a wide variety of topics from security to mental health) as well as your core competency that you’ll be encouraged to contribute to, and learn from, where projects and client commitments allow.

What you’ll bring to Amido

  • Being skilled at front-end engineering using Object-Oriented ECMAScript JavaScript or Typescript, various JavaScript libraries and frameworks (React or Angular), HTML and CSS
  • Experience working with CSS whether that is CSS-in-JS or Styled-Components or Shadow-Dom (in case you’re keen to write Web-Components).
  • Being able to use distributed source control – we use Git
  • Experience with responsive design, accessibility, mobile first development etc.
  • Experience with unit-testing technologies such as Jest (preferred), Enzyme, Mocha, etc.
  • Understanding business and client needs
  • Articulating a solution to a non-technical audience
  • Being able to interact effectively with the team (e.g. approachable, good communication skills, work closely with QA, DevOps, BA, TL, etc)
  • Being proactive (provide accurate estimates, raise blockers, pick up tasks from the backlog)

What we offer you

  • We will give you a place to strive and grow. You will have the opportunity to work on some super interesting, yet challenging projects with a highly-skilled team already in place
  • We will give you autonomy over your work, and the opportunity to have a voice to help shape the projects you’re working on
  • Our guiding values are reflected in everything we do here and we’re looking for likeminded people to join us and add to this already fantastic culture

  • Being agnostic means no place for extreme views here. You will be working with a bunch of humble, open-minded and curious people
  • We have a pragmatic approach to doing things. You will learn how to be hands-on, practical and deal with challenges in a sensible way
